Landlords, Property Managers, And Homeowners May Require A Credit Check As Part Of The Application Process. This Is Generally Required To Provide Insight Of How The Potential Roommate Manages Their Credit Accounts And Bill Payments. Credit Checks Are A Great Way To Demonstrate That You Are A Responsible Roommate And Reliable When It Comes To Paying Your Rent On Time.

Who can perform a credit/background check?

A Credit/Background check can be performed on anyone with a SSN (Social Security Number) or an ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number)

Tip: If you would like to request a credit/background check on a prospective housemate/renter, you will need to inform the person that they will need to submit to a credit/background check and provide the necessary information for the credit/background check and will need to pay $30-. You the Owner or Landlord will need to order and pay for the Credit/Background Check through our EZLandlord partner.

What kind of credit/background checks are available?

Keyz4home has partnered with Global Background Screening to perform the individual credit checks.

The credit report includes the following types of information:
  • Identifying information- Your name, address, and date of birth
  • Credit account information- Credit card, mortgage, student loans, vehicle loan
  • Inquiry information- "Soft" or "hard" inquiry.
  • Bankruptcies- Information about bankruptcy public records
  • Collections accounts- Past due accounts that have been turned over to a collection agency
  • Any notable risk factors
Certn requires a SSN to perform the credit checks. Don’t worry, your SSN will never be shared with anyone and will not be shown on your report.

What are the payment options?

You can complete payment on a credit or debit card. Payments are processed by Stripe (one of the largest and most secure online payment providers). Your card details are encrypted and sent directly from your browser to Stripe so they are totally secure.
